The Louisiana Leadership Institute Dazzling Starlettes, commonly known as the Starlettes, is a renowned dance organization that was established in 2003. It was first led by Monique Morgan and Shira Jordan, two passionate individuals with a shared vision of providing young dancers in Louisiana with a platform to showcase their talent and develop leadership skills.

The organization’s inaugural performance took place during the halftime show of a Southern University football game in 2003. The Starlettes wowed the audience with their synchronized dance routine, choreographed to the upbeat and inspiring song “System of Survival” by Earth, Wind & Fire. Their energetic performance captivated the crowd and set the stage for their future success.

Following their debut performance, the Starlettes quickly gained recognition for their remarkable talent and dedication. The organization started attracting aspiring dancers from various communities across Baton Rouge who were eager to join their ranks and be a part of the Starlettes’ legacy.

The Starlettes established themselves as more than just a dance team. They aimed to instill important life skills and values in their members, including leadership, discipline, teamwork, and self-confidence. Through intensive training and mentorship, the Starlettes helped shape young individuals into well-rounded dancers and leaders.

Over the years, the Starlettes participated in numerous dance competitions, parades, and community events, such as the world-famous Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California (2007), the Debbie Allen Dance Academy Summer Intensive in Los Angeles, California (2004) and the 2021 Presidential Inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. They gained a reputation for their precision, innovative choreography, and captivating performances, earning them accolades and admiration from both local and national audiences.

Over time, the Starlettes embraced the dynamic changes in the dance landscape, continuously evolving and adapting. Throughout their journey, they have been fortunate to have an exceptional roster of seasoned dance coaches, currently led by Ms. Judy Boudreaux, who has consistently brought her remarkable expertise and strong leadership to the organization.

Today, the Louisiana Leadership Institute Dazzling Starlettes remain an influential and respected dance organization in Louisiana and beyond. They have inspired countless dancers, empowered young leaders, and left an indelible mark on the world of dance. With each new generation of Starlettes, the organization continues to uphold its core values, striving for excellence in dance and leadership while making a positive impact in their communities.
